“I want to be your friend! Come, eat my socialist deer corn.
It’s free! Take a taste of Socialism!”

Fall is coming, and in local big box stores, hardware stores, grocery stores, and hunting supply stores, deer corn is on the shelves for sale. Bags and bags of deer corn. Why? Because fall is hunting season. Deer hunting season.

What is deer corn? Corn ⎯ not sweet enough for human consumption. Corn that deer will gorge on.

Who buys it? Deer hunters.

Why buy it? To save yourself hours of hiking, stalking, and the effort required to walk quietly enough to approach a deer without him hearing you. Snap! Oops! Mr. Hunter, you stepped on a twig and snapped it underfoot. All you see now is the white tail of the deer as he sprints farther into the forest, out of your reach and out of your rifle range.

There is an easier way. With bags of deer corn, you place corn in a clearing in the forest. You begin weeks before hunting season, so that the deer get used to finding food in the same spot day after day. You build a blind to hide yourself. Then, when hunting season opens, you hide in your blind and wait for the deer to come eat your stash of deer corn. Bam! You got one. Easy peasy.

Mamdani offers “Deer corn for NYC Businesses”

As recently reported in the Financial Times, Democratic Socialist Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani “won over some of his critics in the New York business community on Tuesday at a meeting designed to assuage the fears of seasoned executives about the democratic socialist becoming mayor of the largest city in the US.”

“Assuage the fears?” Sounds like a free deer corn feed before the election/hunting season. Deer wondering “where can I get free food?” are certainly enticed by the hunter’s corn.

Mamdani also spoke by phone with JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. “The chat was one of several that Mamdani has had in recent weeks with city business leaders, part of a charm offensive to win over a class of people largely wary of the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist,” according to Yahoo News. “Mamdani, whose proposals include a rent freeze, government-owned grocery stores, and free childcare and bus rides, has vowed to raise taxes on corporations and the wealthy to help pay for billions in social spending if he were to become mayor.”

How naïve are these business leaders? Mamdani plainly tells them he intends to confiscate their money via increased taxes. Yet they are willing to listen to his reassurances.

Tax the Rich Only? No! Socialists tax everyone!

What are promises and reassurances of Democratic Socialists / Communists worth? Nothing! Here is a cautionary tale from behind the former Iron Curtain countries of Europe.

On a tour of Romania, my wife and I had a tour guide old enough to remember when she was a child and Romania was still under Communist rule. She said that as a child, she lived with her grandmother in a rural village.

Her grandmother raised a few chickens. The communist officials in the village had inspectors for every aspect of life, including how many chickens you were allowed to own. She told us that when the “chicken inspector” came to her grandmother’s home, she had a job: hide the extra chickens (above the small allowed number) in the attic and keep them quiet until the chicken inspector left.

The communist dictators of Romania took control of the country on promises of “tax and take from the rich.” But in practice, they performed regular inspections on an old woman who had a few chickens, to make sure she didn’t have “more than her fair share.”

The Socialist Path to Power: Preach Envy and Promise Goods

This is how communist socialists* (*there is no functional difference between communists and socialists) rise to power. They appeal to your envy of anyone richer than you with promises to give you some of their riches. After socialists gain power, they reach out to control and confiscate from everyone, rich and poor, including a peasant woman with a few chickens. How dare she have two or three chickens more than her communist masters allowed!

New Yorkers Beware!

New Yorkers, beware! After Mamdani takes money from the “rich” and seizes control of their businesses, he’ll come after your chickens. Or your Keurig coffee pods. Expect a socialist quota for how many K-Cup pods citizens are allowed to have.

No chick or coffee pod is too small for the envious eyes of socialist elites.
