The reason for the following is to prove that Islamic Institutions, from Mosques to Community Centers to Educational Institutions are co-owned, controlled, and provided educational materials, by interests that are Anti-West, Anti-American, Anti-Semitic, and who routinely threaten the USA and the West with threats of violence.
Islamic organizations, like the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and the Muslim American Society (MAS), own and manage mosques and Islamic centers, often holding them as endowments (waqf) for perpetual religious use, with funding sometimes coming from international sources. These groups provide crucial infrastructure for Muslim communities, ranging from local prayer spaces to larger cultural centers, ensuring dedicated places for worship, education, and community services, as well as providing educational materials and political propaganda.
The North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) is based in Plainfield, Indiana, owns Islamic properties and promotes waqf (Islamic endowments) in North America. Founded by immigrants who arrived in the US during the 1960s, NAIT has roots in the Muslim Students Association.[1][2] In the 1970s and thereafter, NAIT helped provide college students with worship services.
Today, NAIT serves as the trustee of about 200 Islamic centers, mosques and schools. The properties of those mosques are estimated to be worth in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
NAIT was established in 1973 in Indiana by the Muslim Students Association (MSA) of the United States and Canada, by some of the same Muslim Brotherhood members who started the MSA. ISNA’s President, Dr. Ingrid Mattson, is a former member of the NAIT board of directors. A sister organization under the same name registered a few years later in the Canadian province of Ontario.[3]
In 2007, federal prosecutors brought charges against Holy Land Foundation for allegedly funding terrorist activities of Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations. NAIT was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case,[4] along with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and ISNA. The Al Ahram Weekly said American “Muslims [were] witnessing a smear campaign“, insisting instead that the named groups “represent the viewpoints and interests of the mainstream American Muslim community.”[5]
In 2009, U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis found that the Justice Department violated the Fifth Amendment rights of the NAIT and CAIR in 2007 by not sealing the list.[6] At the same time, Solis said that there was “ample evidence to establish the association” of NAIT with Hamas.[7]
“International Islamic Bank” refers to different banks in different regions, primarily in Iraq (headquartered in Baghdad, with branches across Iraq) and Syria (Syria International Islamic Bank in Damascus). There’s also the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) in Doha, this last one currently the greatest supplier of funds for Mosque and Islamic Center construction and also holds the mortgages of those it finances and refinances.
